Why it works
Young bodies need general strength before sport-specific conditioning. The nugget: you can't jump, slide, or hold a stance without core, hip, and shoulder strength — and young kids don't have it yet. Animal walks build that strength in a format kids beg to do. A kid with a strong base from these moves will pick up every basketball skill faster, because their body can actually do what the skill demands.
