How to run it

  1. 1

Play 3v3 on half court with normal scoring.

  2. 2

No player may dribble — only pass, cut, and screen.

  3. 3

A dribble is a turnover; first team to 7 points wins.

  4. 4

    Rotate teams each game.

Coaching points

  • Move after every pass — give-and-go, cut backdoor.
  • Spacing: stay 12–15 feet apart to keep lanes open.
  • Read the defense: cut backdoor when overplayed.

Equipment

  • Basketball
  • Half court

Why it works

Removing the dribble forces the two skills kids avoid — passing and cutting. The nugget: with no bailout dribble, players learn to move and share, the true engine of team offense. In a game, the best teams move the ball faster than one player can dribble it. A kid who plays no-dribble 3v3 learns that passing and cutting create easy baskets that dribbling never could — this is how real team offense is played.
