Difficulty

How to run it

  1. 1

Wing with the ball; post on the block; defender fronts the post.

  2. 2

If fronted, feed a high lob over the top to the post sealing.

  3. 3

If 3/4 denial, feed a bounce pass to the baseline side.

  4. 4

8 reps each entry type, then switch.

Coaching points

  • Feed away from the defender — the open side, not the body.
  • A front means a lob; a 3/4 means a baseline-side bounce.
  • The post must seal and show a target hand.

Equipment

  • Basketball
  • Post player
  • Defender

Why it works

Post entry is a lost art that unlocks easy baskets. The nugget: a fronted post is open behind the defender — a well-placed lob is an automatic layup. Most kids can't make this pass, so their post player never gets the ball. A kid who reads front-vs-denial and delivers the right entry feeds the post for high-percentage points that perimeter-only teams can't generate. Easy offense lives inside.
