How to run it
- 1
Set 2 cones in the lane as imaginary defenders.

Drive from the wing, hit the cone, decelerate with a 1-2 stop, and float it over the rim.

Practice off both feet, both hands, and the push shot on the run.

Coaching points
- Decelerate on the 1-2 stop — control creates the soft touch.
- Release the floater high, off the fingertips, with arc.
- Keep eyes on the target over the defender.

Why it works
Bigs block layups, not floaters. The nugget: the floater's high, soft release finishes over rim protectors — the in-between game is what lets small guards score in the paint. In a game, driving all the way to the rim against a shot-blocker gets swatted; the floater lets you score before you reach them. A guard with a floater is a three-level scorer (layup, floater, three) that defenses can't take away, which is unguardable.
