Why it works
Late-game free throws come with dead legs and a screaming crowd. The nugget: training the shot immediately after max effort teaches the body to hold form under fatigue, which is the whole secret to clutch shooting. A kid who can hit both after a suicide hits the ones that win games; one who only shoots fresh bricks the front end of a one-and-one. Free throws win close games, and clutch free throws are a trained skill, not luck.
