- Duration
- 20 min

- Equipment
- 3 items
- Difficulty
- Advanced
How to run it
- 1
Pick 8 game spots: corner 3s, wing 3s, top, elbows, layups.
- 2
At each spot, catch-and-shoot 5 times, then shoot-off-the-dribble 5 times.
- 3
Sprint between spots to simulate transition. Track makes out of 80.
- 4
Goal: 60%+ on catch-and-shoot, 45%+ off the dribble.
Variations
- Add a defender closing out to simulate pressure.
Coaching points
- Set feet on the catch — hop into the shot, don't drift.
- Game speed means tired legs; maintain form under fatigue.
- Hold the follow-through and self-correct misses immediately.
Equipment
- Basketball
- Rim
- Rebounder
Why it works
Practicing only the shots you take in games transfers directly to games. The nugget: a kid who grooves set shots in practice but can't hit them after a sprint is a practice shooter, not a game shooter. Random game-speed reps from real spots build transferable accuracy because they train the legs to shoot under the exact fatigue of a game. Game-shots-only practice is the difference between a shooter who scores in games and one who only looks good in warmups.
